Why PDP Governors Are Defecting To Our Party – APC’s Mala Buni Reveals
By: in NEWS

The All Progressives Congress, APC, National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC, Mai Mala Buni, has revealed why governors on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, platform are defecting to the party.

Yobe State Governor Buni explained that the APC was more orderly, peaceful, and accommodating.

He made the revelation during a meeting of the CECPC with Buhari at the State House in Abuja.

According to the Chairman of the CECPC, all issues and members were given a fair hearing, and an open-door policy was established to accommodate all those who were dissatisfied, resulting in the withdrawal of court cases and peaceful settlements.

Buni said the committee approached the duty with commitment and dedication to rescue the party from imminent collapse.

Buni said:

“We are currently witnessing high-powered decamping to our party, including governors from the PDP.

“The party is now more peaceful, orderly and accommodating than what we met on the ground. Although there was initial fear, the mobilisations and sensitizations were able to allay the fears of members.’’

The Yobe State governor said the registration and revalidation of members across the country recorded more than 40 million members and an appeal committee was also set up to hear all matters related to the process so that no member gets disenfranchised.

“We have observed that youth and women constitute a huge population of the voting group. We had a youth and women committee, and also people with disability,’’

He added.

He stated that in each state, a Contact and Strategy Team had been formed to develop an acceptable template that would ensure the transparency, credibility, and acceptability of the internal electoral processes.

Buni also stated that the committee had begun a process to review the party’s constitution and look into loopholes that often lead to conflict and litigation among members, with over 500 memoranda already received.

The CECPC Chairman informed the President and other party members that 14 party members had expressed interest in running in the Anambra State elections, assuring them that the primary elections would be free, fair, and transparent.

The Yobe State governor stated that the committee worked with members to settle all outstanding legal fees after scaling them down, noting that payment for the APC National Secretariat had been completed.

Buni thanked the President for his support and insight, noting that a National Conference for Youths was recently organized as part of the bottom-up approach to strengthening the party and ensuring the relevance of all stakeholders.
