Buhari’s Postponed Medical Trip Was To Avoid Embarrassment And Protest [FULL GIST]
By: in NEWS

Recall that during his last visit to the UK for a medical checkup, Reno Omokri and other activists protested at the Abuja House in London.

According to DailyPost, President Muhammadu Buhari’s sudden decision to postpone his scheduled medical trip to the United Kingdom was made to avoid being embarrassed by protesters abroad.

Recall that during his last visit to the United Kingdom for a medical checkup, Reno Omokri and other activists protested at the Abuja House in London, United Kingdom, demanding that he return to Nigeria and build a world-class hospital to reduce his frequent medical trips abroad.

On Friday morning, the president was scheduled to leave the country for a routine medical check-up in London.

According to a statement issued Thursday evening by Femi Adesina, President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the president is expected to return to the country during the second week of July.

However, in the early hours of Friday, some Nigerians in the United Kingdom stormed the Nigerian House in London to express their displeasure with the current unrest in the country’s south-east.

According to reports, protesters who gathered in Trafalgar Square in London moved to Abuja House ahead of Buhari’s arrival.

A large number of Nigerians were seen chanting songs in both English and Igbo language at the residence in a live video broadcast by the BBC pidgin on Friday.

Some of the protesters were dressed in traditional Igbo garb.

One of the protesters stated, “These are the Igbos, the ones whose youths are being slaughtered.”

“The Nigerian Army and police are killing our youths in the South-East. Our parents have been maimed, our mothers raped and kidnapped, the Nigerian government has killed us, and we are marginalized.”

A few moments after the report went viral on social media, Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, announced that the trip had been canceled and that a new date would be announced soon.

Some Nigerians took to social media to express their displeasure with the announced postponement for no apparent reason, claiming that “Buhari was running from shame.”

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, also claimed that Buhari postponed his trip due to threats of house arrest in the United Kingdom.
