As an enslaved person on a remote Georgia plantation under the harsh and troubled master Paul, Alice (Keke Palmer) yearns for freedom (Jonny Lee Miller).
After a violent altercation with Paul, she flees into the nearby woods and comes across an odd sight: a highway, where she quickly discovers the year is 1973.
When Alice is rescued by a disillusioned political activist named Frank (Common) on the side of the road, she swiftly realizes the illusions that have held her in slavery and the promise of Black emancipation.
Alice is a modern empowerment story recounting Alice’s journey through the post-Civil Rights Era American South, inspired by true events.
